Giving Back

It is that time of year we are all getting ready to give thanks so this year why not give back?

Here are two of my favorite organizations:

Project Linus
It is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.

This is great if you want to get your kids involved! The no sew fleece blankets are a great way for kids to help! Make a trip to Hobby Lobby or Walmart and pick-up some fleece and in one afternoon you have taught your children the importance of giving back AND helped give a "hug" to a child in need

One year we had a Project Linus party with our friends- we invited our friends over, served snacks and everyone sat around chatting make blankets together. It was a great afternoon!

A Soldier's Wish List
Our goal is to fulfill the wishes of our troops to the best of our abilities. This is our small way of letting our brave troopers know that we care about them and appreciate their sacrifices.

Items on the list range from personal care items to snacks to basic clothing. Homemade cookies are a real treat- why not make cookie with your children and send them off to the troops? What a wonderful way to get your kids involved!

Instead of giving gifts one Christmas my family adopted a trooper together, it was awesome to get the whole family involved!
